Bacott Family || Mini Session

:|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|:

This Saturday, I met up with the Bacott Family for their Mini- Photo Session at Longview Park in Town and Country. The Bacott's took advantage of the Mini Photo Session offered on M3DSIGN + STUDIO Facebook fan page!  The wind was chilly and everything around us was a little wet and muddy from the surprise snow a few days ago  . . . but that didn't stop us from having a fun 30 minute photoshoot at the park! You all did a great job! Can't wait to finish editing the rest!

Marketing products . . .

This week, I have been working some really exciting marketing materials for M3 and I can't wait to share them with everyone! One marketing piece has already been sent to the printer and I am super excited to see the finished product!

While the other one . . . . it's just about done, but with a few extra kinks that will need to be changed before sending it to the printers! And, let me say . . . I am really excited to share with everyone the new design product!  Without giving too much away, I will tell you a little bit about it.

Its called the Referral Rewards! Whats that? You ask . . . without saying too much, I will say that for every 4 clients that you refer to M3 - I will give a $50 check or a Free Photography Session!
I know pretty awesome, right?!

 My guess is, all of you are on the edge of your chair wishing to know more  . . .  but you will have to come  back here in the next week or so and check it!

Rewind and back to the Future . . . .

I realized that most of you reading this blog don't really know about me or M3DSIGN + STUDIO, so let me tell you how and why I got started . . . . I will try and make it entertaining and somewhat short! :)

M3 was created in February 2009 , so in a way it only makes sense that I tell now since we are still in February! Before, I start let me say, it takes alot of drive, energy and learning to keep procrastination to a minimum (which is sometimes not always the easiest!) to start a business. But not only start a business but to be constantly brainstorming and designing new material for your business. Long run . . . I see it being  worth the time and energy!

So let me rewind a bit . . . .

I graduated from Fontbonne Univesity in 2008 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts | Graphic Design. Let me just say for everyone who is reading this and who might of graduated in 2008 it was bittersweet! I say bittersweet because even though we were all excited to be in the "real world" and start living our lives as true adults! It was pretty much at the same time when the Recession hit and was at its worst! Which meant. . . . jobs were far and in between, and that expensive education you just earned during those 4 years wasn't necessarily going to mean you were gonna get that a fancy new job right away. It meant getting a job that pays but necessarily what you want. At least it was in my experience. . .

So in 2009, I decided to take a leap and start my own business! I have always known that the family business of 401k's, benefits plus, employee benefits, healthcare and overall insurance was never going to be a niche or in my future. . . . (Im still young, so who knows  . . . . maybe way, way, way, way down the road I will be a insurance sales lady!) But all of you can keep that last sentence on the DL! :) I saw it as . . . my dad started a business at my age so why not do the same but just not focus in Insurance!

I decided to call my business : M3DSIGN - I choose it, because I wanted it to be unique and different. M3 stands for my initials (megan marie maher) . I choose to spell DESIGN, incorrectly- not because I am a bad speller but for the sole purpose of it being different and unique !

For the first year or so, I was really trying focus on the graphic design and merely offering design services to business and individuals. But later down the road, I decided to add on M3DSIGN + STUDIO, it was my way of saying, I not only do design but photography!

It is now February 2011, somewhat of a M3 anniversary of sorts! I am also, proud to say, that I have booked my first wedding as the primary photographer which I am really excited about! I have more clients than when I started (which - if i didn't that might be a major issue and maybe the insurance  life would be in my future--- but shhh, about the insurance thing- we can't let "them" get any ideas! :) )  Honestly, I am just really excited to see where my future will go with my business! Sometimes I wish I could see a mini future glimpse, but I suppose I will just have to take it day by day!

February Mini Session | Libby + Colin Taylor

:|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|::|:
 The other day I got to photograph Libby and her son Colin at Lafayette Park.
Libby took advantage of the January - February Mini Session that was being offered on
M3DSIGN + STUDIO Facebook Fan Page! Not knowing how the weather was going pane out that morning we luckily missed the rain and random 10 min hail storm, by seconds!

Colin, really did a great job! He is such a cutie!
I think he enjoyed the mommy and son photo-shoot more then he let on! He will definitely look back on these photos and say, "My mom is so cool, can't wait to do it again!" :)

Man who stares back at me!

So sunday morning, I stopped by Northwest Coffee in the CWE on my way to church. And as many of you know, or maybe you don't. I have a wall of photos displayed at the coffee shop there! I also have a 4x4 frame on the counter with small bio and photo of me.

So the man in front of me, after ordering his coffee, did this side glance then looked at the bio on the counter than back at me....For story purposes I am going to call this man "Ty" (you'll understand later!)

Ty: "hey thats you in the photo!"

M3 : "it is" and laughed a little.

Ty: "And those photos are yours? "

M3 : Indeed they are!

I was prob, talking to ty for about 10 mins or so and found out that he was a "ty dye artist" and he sells his work in the City Museum gift shop.

As he was talking to me about my photographs on the wall, and how he really liked them (which, what photographer doesn't like hearing that!)

Ty: Did you know there is a man in the photo?

M3: "huh...really? No way.... really?

Ty: "I come to NW Coffee on a regular basis and the other day we were looking at the photos and my friend noticed a man starring in the corner of the photograph.

M3 : So, I walk over to the photograph which hangs 16 x 20 on the wall, and leaned in to discover there is a man in the corner. . .  just starring!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sidenote:

I must 've looked at those photographs hundreds of times and more and never once noticed the man!

I can only assume he is homeless and he was prob. thinking, what in the world, is this girl with the camera doing on my turf! Haha!

If only he knew he was celebrity at Northwest Coffee! Now every time I see this photo...i can't seem to get my eyes off the man starring point blank at me!
